Are Cops Just Grown-Up Bullies?
I wasn’t originally going to post this editorial, but I heard something recently that made me revisit it (and I’ll get to that later). I hate to disparage anyone in the corps that protects our country. Events like Hurricane Sandy and multiple psycho shootings (Aurora, Empire State Building, the Wisconsin Sikh temple) show how necessary a police force is. These Days
These days. I’m more interested in writing my erotic fan fiction than working on anything publishable. Not sure why that is. Maybe it’s the sexual nature of it — gets me excited. Maybe cause I know I can’t get rejected from fan fiction. Sure my acceptance ratio is 10%, higher than normal. But some days, especially during this winter season, it feels like playing handball against the curtains. And writing queries and submitting short stories is such a pain in the ass. The Year in Statistics
Let’s take a look at the year end statistics for the blog, just because it interests me. Demographics This year, we got 20,000 page views and 14,000 visitors. 93% of those were new. That’s a slight improvement from last year, which had 2,000 views and 1,700 visitors. Just slight. That’s mostly thanks to two big spikes, which I’ll talk about in a minute. Most of you come from the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. No surprise there. 38% of you use Firefox and 28% use Chrome. Good for you. But there’s still 14% of you using IE. For shame. My 500th Post
If you can tell by the modest graphic, this makes post 500. To be honest, I’ve really got nothing special to say, except to give a look back at the progress of the blog from its inception in 2/12/2007, before my first kid was even born. I started it as a way to “keep honest” when writing my first novel (the first meant for mainstream publishing). And mostly, I wrote about being depressed about how poorly the writing was going. Yes, I’ve truly written or posted some snippet of interest that floats in my brain 400 times. I wanted to commemorate this occasion with some big list, or some picture, or taping bacon to a cat, but I couldn’t think of anything. Also, I have no cat, and bacon it too precious to fasten to domestic animals. I’m not made of money. So instead, here is a picture, not created by me.
