I have small kids, in case you couldn’t tell. This means we watch some children-oriented programming around the house. This is fine by me because A) I love family programming and B) because of A, I know what to look for. This means Sesame Street is a staple of our house, and Dora the Explorer is not. Individual episodes are fun, but movies are better, because they’re longer. There are currently only two Sesame Street movies out there: Follow That Bird, which is a bit harder to follow for my kids because it has a coherent plot and doesn’t talk down (this is a good thing). And Elmo in Grouchland, which…

Mermaids Going to the Bathroom
Last week was quite busy. I had software training all last week that took 50% of my time away from my computer. I’m still trying to get Mermaid Story all macro’d, which consists of objectively examining each problem word and phrase (adverbs, cliches, etc.) and evaluating whether they stay or go. Tedious work, and time-consuming if it’s for a 90,000 page manuscript. So I’ll leave you with this thought I had this morning. The little mermaid must have wet her pants at some point. Well, think about it. Mermaids likely don’t have a bathroom. The world is their toilet. Their bodily waste simply floats away. I doubt they do it…

Donald Duck vs. Glenn Beck
Here’s a really neat video starring Donald Duck vs. Glenn Back. I should note that I have no strong political leanings one way or the other. I find politics boring and corrupt. I’d rather study the nature of humanity as individuals or small groups. I find political commentators, on the whole, distasteful, fear-mongering, and I simply don’t listen to them. They’re as useless as sports predictions. But I posted this video because the way it seamlessly weaves dozens of Donald Duck cartoons with real audio into a plot/message is awesome, and I think it’s worth seeing. You don’t have to be a pundit to enjoy this.

400th Post
Yes, I’ve truly written or posted some snippet of interest that floats in my brain 400 times. I wanted to commemorate this occasion with some big list, or some picture, or taping bacon to a cat, but I couldn’t think of anything. Also, I have no cat, and bacon it too precious to fasten to domestic animals. I’m not made of money. So instead, here is a picture, not created by me. But let’s just say it’s a hint of the next novel I plan to write after Mermaid Story is done.
