    My Top Five Favorite Porn Stars: VHS Edition (A.K.A. The Old School)

    You’d never know it to meet me, but I’ve always been fascinated by the sex industry. Strippers, prostitutes, toy makers, hire-able dominatrices. But I only observe from a distance. I’m sure I’d fall into a quivering bowl of jelly if any of those assertive women approached me. In 1996 (thereabouts), my dad got a “black box“. This was when cable was pretty basic — PPV was the best it had. No On Demand or music channels. What I would do is wait until I was sure my dad had gone to bed. And this happened rarely because my dad always fell asleep on the couch with the light on, watching…

    Fraggle Gender

    I was going to write an article about Red Fraggle: Early Feminist Icon. I got inspired after learning that the animator for Wheatley from Portal 2 is Red Fraggle’s puppeteer, which blew my mind. I grew up watching this person as a five-year-old as a muppeteer then 30 years later I’m playing a video game using this superbly designed character, and its the SAME PERSON. It’s like Kristin Prell’s been there all my life. It’s especially impressive when you learn how much she could do with just an eyeball. You know how everyone thinks Rainbow Dash is best pony? Red Fraggle was there first. She was performing the stunts, showing off,…

    The Books I Read: November – December 2012

    Room by Emma Donoghue Oh my god. This might be the best book I ever read. Certainly the best book I read this quarter, and maybe the best all year. From the moment I saw its description, I was too intrigued. Room takes place in just that: a room. The entire novel revolves around a woman locked in this 12×12 space that she never leaves.  Just that alone had me hooked — what happened?  Was there an apocalypse?  Is this a survival story?  How do you write an entire book that takes place in one room? Much less a book that keeps getting onto “best of the year” lists. How…

    Sexy Batman Villains

    I’ve been looking for porn about thinking about Poison Ivy, the Batman villain. She’s a good character, but for being a plant-woman, she sure exudes sexuality. In fact, that got me thinking about all the Batman villains, especially the difference between the guys and the girls. I love Batman’s villains because they all represent fractured psyches of the hero. Unlike just about any other comic book villain who are just about power, revenge, or greed. Enemies like the Joker represent chaos opposed to Batman’s order. Bane is what happens when you have too much power. Two-Face is the double identity getting away from you. Scarecrow is fear (which Batman uses…

    New Fan Fiction: Milk & Honey (Legend of Zelda)

    Remember when I said it was a long six weeks after my wife gave birth via C-section? Well, this is the result: “Milk and Honey”, a Legend of Zelda fan fiction and my first attempt at erotica. What’s it about? Link has been having a sexual relationship with Zelda for a long time, but it has to be secret, because he’s a commoner, and Princess Zelda cannot have a relationship with a commoner. So he’s frustrated and bored. Until he helps a rain-soaked Malon at Lon Lon Ranch, and arousal develops. So kiddies take note. This is an adult story with lots of adult graphic sex and description. If reading…

  • I Can’t Talk About Rape, So This Entry Contains Nothing About It

    UPDATE: Please read this too. Jim C. Hines, who keeps getting more and more fascinating, has posted another entry about rape. He used to be a rape crisis counselor, so he knows a little better the reality of rape, rather than this collegiate newspaper. I can’t talk about it because one out of four women have been raped. If you haven’t been raped yourself, then that number is lower. If you have been raped, then that number is higher. So let’s say it all averages out to 1/4. That means either my mom, my sister, or my wife has been raped. If it’s my wife, I must have done it,…

  • Sexual Identity != Identity

    Oh, let’s get controversial here for a minute. One of greatest hot button topics when trying to provoke a literary or philsophical discussion is sex. And why not? We all like to read about sex. Sex sells. Sex is great – its naughty and nice at the same time. And it’s a surefire way to get people to pay attention. But these days, it seems like sexuality is being thrown in there extraneously. It’s gotten to the point where people are equating one’s sexual identity to be their identity. I got started on this by reading this article, although it’s a topic I’ve been thinking about for sometime. There are…

    Video Game Memories #3: Leisure Suit Larry

    Leisure Suit Larry (1987) / 2 (1988) / 3 (1989) Like Spider-Man, this is a text adventure game, but loads better. Anyone who was into computing in the 80’s should be able to tell you about the successful Sierra adventure games. As opposed to crap like Wumpus Hunter, these were able to combine text and graphics to make a successful adventure. Basically all you did was move your guy closer to the object you were supposed to interact with, but it made a surprising difference, just like the guitar peripheral for Guitar Hero, you need that help to make the jump from interactive to immersing. Anyone who has played LSL…

  • An Allegory for Sex Education

    Well, a good chunk of my page views are coming from my editorial on Shadow of the Colossus. So, in a shameless effort to stir up the controversy stew, let me show off an allegory (one of my favorite literary devices) on sex education, in case you’re bored with my whining about writing five hundred words. This post may contain naughty things. You want to know why we should teach sex education? You need look no further than file-sharing. File sharing/pirate downloading is technically illegal. There’s no two ways about it. (Proponents of file-sharing don’t want to legalize it, but they don’t want ridiculous and broken techniques like DRM and…
