Where am I supposed to go for comedy these days? I used to go to movies, but it’s not there anymore. When I grew up, there was great stuff like Airplane! and Ghostbusters and The Naked Gun and Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Tommy Boy and Galaxy Quest and American Pie, then started transitioning into Mean Girls and Napoleon Dynamite. So what was so wrong about Ghostbusters 2? I don’t get it. It’s pretty surprising to have a fandom based on only two movies, but to have one of those movies actively disliked? That’s an entire half of the canon you’re leaving out. If you can’t already tell, I liked it. Featured Fan Fiction: Balamb Garden’s Yuletide Vacation (Final Fantasy 8)
I think this is the only true comedy in my list. Sunshine in Winter is close, but that is more of a tragic romance. This is more like a Shakespearean comedy of errors. Plus it’s Christmas-themed to boot. It puts our favorite FF8 characters through all the great holiday stories. Squall becomes Mr. Scrooge. Zell is in “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Seifer plays “Phantom of the Opera” (okay, maybe they’re not all Christmas-themed). Quistis deals with her relationship with a boring man and the mystery of Seifer. My history with Firesign Theater revolves mostly around one album. Or really one side of an album — “Nick Danger, Third Eye”.
